Vista Business and Ultimate have built in file backup and complete backup / restore. WinClone (2.05+) makes a full image, good for snapshot, but if you want to do any other backup you might want to look into something additional. Why cant i play minecraft on my mac.

My MAC was working fine and at that point from Disk Utility, selecting the main disk, I clicked on 'New Image' and saved the entire disk as a backup. It resulted in a 135Gb dmg file. Then I save it to a USB hard disk where I have some other files (pictures, movies, etc).
After some time I screwed up the system with some 'cleaning' application and had problems at boot up.
I considered that I have no problem since I have the dmg backup. So I booted up from the original SL disk and selected from Utilities menu, 'Restore System from backup' but it does not see the USB hard disk where the image is saved. (?!)
Then I went back to menu Utilities/Disk Utility and noticed that my USB drive it does shows up. I clicked on the main disk (with the damaged boot), selected the 'Restore' tab, then selected the dmg image from the disk, selected where to restore and and Go.. but I get '+Restore Failure, Could not find any scan information. The source image needs to be imagescanned before it can be restored+' ..and now I am stuck! What this message means and how I can get around it to have a successful restore?
Do I have to erase the partition of the original disk before?
Thank you.

Mac Disk Utility Restore Option
- Mac Recovery Mode is a dedicated partition of the disk that contains a recovery image and an OS X installer duplicate. It is a multifunctional inbuilt Mac utility that enables Mac users safely recover or restore their data from Time Machine, fix or wipe their hard disk, access online help and even to reinstall macOS.
- Mac OS X comes with an easy-to-use application, called Disk Utility, that allows users to verify and repair hard disks using a graphical user interface and it is recommended for most Mac users that are not comfortable using the terminal. However, this can also be performed using the command-line.
- When the Recovery Mode Utilities window shows up, pick Disk Utility and click Continue. Select your main hard drive usually called Macintosh HD. Click the Erase button on top ribbon of Disk Utility to start erasing your hard drive for factory reset MacBook Pro. When it is done, close the application by clicking Disk Utility and then Quit Disk.
